Desert bird spotted in Sweden for first time since 1942

Original: ökenlöpare

Birdwatchers on northern Öland have found a cream-coloured courser, known in Swedish as ökenlöpare, a desert species that has not been seen in Sweden since 1942. Local outlet Ölandsbladet calls it an incredible find, and Expressen describes it as a birdwatcher's dream come true, ranking it among the most remarkable sightings of the modern birding era.

Why now: A rare desert bird appearing in Sweden for the first time in over 80 years is drawing birdwatchers and media attention.
