Kaito Takahashi, member of Japanese idol group King & Prince, is facing criticism after it emerged he overlaid or referenced content despite knowing of KAITO, the well-known Vocaloid virtual singer of the same name. The discussion centres on the song 'DARK NEWS' composed by Reio Mizukawa, with fans of the Vocaloid scene debating whether the similarity amounts to disrespect and arguing online about idol culture versus vocal synth fandom.
Why now: The name overlap between the idol and the famous Vocaloid KAITO has reignited a fan dispute over originality and respect in Japanese pop music.
