Israel Reportedly Nearly Shot Down flydubai Jet
Original: Israel Was Ready To Shoot Down flydubai Jet. Then This Happened
Israeli forces were reportedly prepared to shoot down a flydubai passenger jet before an incident was averted, according to an NDTV report. The passenger flight was apparently feared to pose a threat before the situation was resolved and the aircraft was allowed to continue. The episode has raised fresh questions about air safety near conflict zones and how quickly civilian aircraft can be misidentified as threats.
Why now: A near-shootdown of a civilian airliner would be a serious aviation and security incident with major safety implications.
