Sinking Tuvalu Hosts World Leaders With Call For More Climate Action
Tuvalu, a low-lying Pacific island nation at risk of disappearing beneath rising seas, is hosting world leaders and pressing them for stronger climate action. As the country stages high-profile diplomatic gatherings, its leaders are using the moment to highlight the existential threat climate change poses to small island states and to demand faster emissions cuts and support from larger nations.
Why now: Tuvalu's extreme vulnerability to rising sea levels makes its diplomatic appeals for urgent climate action highly newsworthy.
