Conservation campaigners are highlighting African forest elephants as overlooked allies against climate change, saying the animals help capture and store carbon in the Democratic Republic of Congo's rainforest. The campaign urges shoppers to support elephant survival through their supermarket choices, tying the message to a wider boycott of products linked to deforestation, particularly palm oil.
Why now: Renewed attention on nature-based climate solutions and consumer boycott campaigns tied to rainforest protection.
