Americans debate making daylight saving time permanent
Original: daylight saving time
A national poll is asking Americans whether they support making daylight saving time permanent, renewing a recurring debate over clock changes. Supporters of a permanent schedule argue it would end the twice-yearly disruption to sleep and routines, while critics of permanent daylight saving time point to dark winter mornings. Lawmakers have repeatedly floated ending the clock switches, but no federal change has passed.
Why now: The clock change season has revived long-running public debate over whether the US should keep shifting clocks or adopt a single time year-round.
