Flydubai flight to Israel diverted to Saudi Arabia after onboard incident
A Flydubai flight travelling to Israel was diverted to Saudi Arabia following an onboard incident. The unexpected landing in a country that until recently had no ties with Israel drew wide attention, with news outlets including Al Jazeera covering the diversion. Details about the nature of the incident and the passengers' situation were not immediately available, and readers were closely following updates on the story.
Why now: An Israeli-bound plane diverting to Saudi Arabia is rare and politically sensitive given the countries' limited formal ties.
