Israeli strikes hit Gaza as October 7 anniversary nears, truce plan stalled
Original: On eve of October 7 anniversary, Israeli strikes in Gaza and stalled plan
Israeli airstrikes struck Gaza on Monday, the eve of the second anniversary of the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led attack that triggered the war. The strikes came as diplomatic efforts, including a proposed ceasefire plan, remain stalled with no breakthrough announced, leaving the conflict unresolved two years on.
Why now: The war's second anniversary falls Tuesday, and continued strikes and a deadlocked ceasefire plan keep attention on Gaza.
