Seven of nine planetary boundaries breached, new assessment finds

Original: Seven of nine ‘planetary boundaries’ are at their highest level of transgression, according to the latest check of these

The latest assessment of planetary boundaries, a set of gauges measuring the health of Earth's natural systems, finds seven of the nine limits at their highest recorded level of transgression. Only stratospheric ozone and atmospheric aerosols show some good news; all other indicators suggest worsening pressure on the planet's life-support systems, intensifying concern among climate scientists.

Why now: A new scientific assessment showing most planetary limits more badly breached than ever is prompting renewed alarm about Earth's worsening environmental state.
