England's cricket selectors and management appear to be tempering the aggressive 'Bazball' approach as they plan warm-up matches before winter tours of South Africa, Bangladesh and Australia. Writing in The Guardian, Simon Burnton argues the preparations reveal a healthier dose of realism, especially for the Test side under coach Brendon McCullum, with the dial shifting toward more conventional preparation.
Why now: New coverage of England's cricket winter tour preparations is prompting debate about whether the much-discussed Bazball philosophy is being scaled back.
