Kansas agriculture relies on immigrants the system has failed
Original: Kansas agriculture and rural communities need immigrants, but system has failed them
A Kansas opinion piece argues that the state's agriculture sector and struggling rural communities depend on immigrant workers, yet the US immigration system has failed to provide them with a functioning, lawful pathway. The commentary frames immigration as essential to keeping farms staffed and small rural towns populated, and calls attention to the gap between that economic need and current federal policy.
Why now: Immigration policy remains a contentious national debate, and this piece ties it directly to Kansas's farm economy and rural decline.
