President Trump has approved the execution by firing squad of Nidal Malik Hasan, the former US Army psychiatrist who killed 13 people in a 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed the decision on Monday. Critics are condemning the choice of method and the timing, while supporters back the death penalty being carried out after years of appeals.
