WFP convoy attacked in Sudan
Original: World Food Programme convoy attacked in Sudan
A convoy belonging to the United Nations World Food Programme has been attacked in Sudan, according to Vatican News. The incident threatens the delivery of humanitarian aid in a country already facing one of the world's worst hunger crises amid ongoing conflict between the army and the Rapid Support Forces. Details about casualties or responsibility were not immediately available, and aid agencies have repeatedly warned that attacks on relief operations worsen the famine risk for millions of Sudanese civilians.
Why now: Attacks on aid convoys in Sudan's war draw urgent attention because they worsen an already severe humanitarian crisis.
