St Augustine's reservations about 'just war' theory revisited
Original: St Augustine’s reservations about ‘just war’
Vatican News has published a piece examining St Augustine's reservations about the 'just war' doctrine he is traditionally credited with founding. The article highlights that the fourth-century bishop viewed war as a tragic necessity, never a good in itself, and set strict moral conditions for its justification.
