Mad in Norway Film Festival Opens in Lillehammer
Original: Lillehammer’s "Other" Olympics: The Mad in Norway International Film Festival
The Mad in Norway International Film Festival is being held in Lillehammer, the Norwegian city that hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics. The event, covered by Mad in America, focuses on films about mental health and psychiatry, drawing attention to alternative perspectives on madness and treatment. Commentators note the irony of the 'other Olympics' framing, positioning the festival as a major cultural gathering in the former Olympic host town.
Why now: The festival's opening in a famous Olympic city and its focus on mental health themes are drawing current attention.
