Original: India, Qatar confirmed among seven bidders for 2036 Olympics
India and Qatar have been confirmed among seven countries bidding to host the 2036 Olympic Games, according to Sports Business Journal. Neither nation has ever hosted the Olympics, and a successful bid from either would bring the Games to a new region. The full list of seven bidders signals wide international interest in the 2036 edition.
Why now: The confirmation of the bidder list is new, and India or Qatar hosting would mark the Olympics' first time in South Asia or a major first for the Gulf.
