Ukrainian repair bases appeal for diesel to survive winter blackouts
Original: 🫡 Друзі, наші ремонтні бази потребують запас палива (дизель) на пʼять місяців холодів та відключень. ◼️ Один місяць дизе
A Ukrainian volunteer repair organisation says its bases need a five-month diesel reserve to keep working through winter cold and power cuts. Running the bases' diesel generators costs about $4,000 per month, or roughly $20,000 for five months, and the generators were already in use today. The group is appealing to donors to help cover the fuel stock.
Why now: Russia's attacks on Ukraine's power grid are forcing frontline repair services onto generators, prompting winter fuel fundraising appeals.
