Cleanroom Rust project aims to recreate Adobe Creative Suite tools
Original: Adobe Creative Suite Cleanroom Port to Rust
A developer has released an open-source project called Photocraft, described as a cleanroom effort to rebuild Adobe Creative Suite functionality in Rust. The codebase is available on GitHub and has drawn attention on Hacker News, where commenters are debating the technical feasibility of recreating professional creative software, including Photoshop-style image editing, outside Adobe's ecosystem.
Why now: Open-source alternatives to Adobe's expensive, subscription-based creative software are a perennially popular topic, especially when built in Rust.
