The Emmy Awards will move to Prime Video in 2027 under a six-year deal, and viewers will not need a subscription to watch the ceremony. The agreement shifts the annual television honours to a streaming platform, a notable step in the migration of major award shows from broadcast and cable television to streaming services. Details about production and scheduling have not yet been announced.
Why now: A major awards show moving to a streaming platform with free access challenges the traditional TV broadcast model.
