Trump celebrates Flávio Bolsonaro's win over Lula
Original: presidente dos estados unidos
US President Donald Trump publicly congratulated Brazilian senator Flávio Bolsonaro, calling his political victory over President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva a 'great win'. The endorsement from the American president has drawn attention in Brazil, where Flávio Bolsonaro, son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, is a prominent opponent of the Lula government.
Why now: Trump's intervention in Brazilian politics directly involves the sitting US president taking sides against Brazil's current leader.
