The Guardian reports that defendants charged in connection with protests against Donald Trump, many of them labeled antifa by authorities, have organized into a union under the banner 'Together, strong.' Supporters online are sharing the story with labor and anti-fascist hashtags, framing collective organization as a response to what they see as politically motivated prosecutions by Trump's justice department.
Why now: The novelty of criminal defendants unionizing amid the Trump administration's crackdown on antifa-labeled protesters is drawing attention and solidarity.
