China's Africa space strategy raises European security concerns
Original: Africa: China’s space strategy is becoming a security concern for Europe
Chinese space activities across Africa are increasingly being viewed in European capitals as a security concern, according to a new briefing on the topic. The analysis examines how Beijing's expanding space footprint on the continent — including infrastructure, partnerships and ground stations — intersects with European strategic interests. Analysts suggest the development could shape future EU-Africa relations and security planning.
Why now: Growing strategic competition between China and Europe over influence in Africa has made Beijing's space presence there a timely security debate.
