Kyoto punk band Accorinrin on mocking stereotypes of Japanese people
Original: # Accorinrin Parfois, les gens nous traitent simplement comme si “les Japonais étaient stupides”, alors nous avons voulu
Otoboke Beaver, the Kyoto punk band fronted by Accorinrin, has said people sometimes treat them as if 'the Japanese were stupid', and that the group set out to mock that perception through their music. The remark, tied to their appearance on television, highlights how the all-female garage-punk act plays with foreigners' clichés about Japan in their loud, satirical songs.
Why now: The band's comment about national stereotyping and their TV appearance are being shared and discussed.
