Original: Judge Puts Trump's $998-a-Day Migrant Fines on Hold https:// lemmy.world/post/52811909
A federal judge has put on hold the Trump administration's policy of fining migrants in the United States $998 per day for staying in the country unlawfully. The pause temporarily stops collection of the penalties while the court reviews the legal challenges to the program.
Why now: The ruling directly affects thousands of migrants facing steep daily fines and is part of ongoing legal battles over Trump's immigration policies.
