Detroit Design District Launches Whitney ISP-Style Program
Original: Detroit Design District Launches Whitney ISP–Style Program
The Detroit Design District has launched a new residency-style study program modeled on the Whitney Museum of American Art's Independent Study Program. Details of participants, funding and curriculum have not yet been widely reported, but the initiative signals Detroit's growing effort to build an alternative art and design education infrastructure outside traditional institutions.
Why now: The Whitney ISP is one of the most prestigious art education programs in the US, so a Detroit replica is notable for the art community.
