Writers Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor have published a magazine essay arguing that religious extremists, tech elites and ethno-fascists share a common outlook they call 'end time fascists'. The authors say these groups believe they will be the 'chosen ones' in an apocalypse they are themselves helping to accelerate. The framing has drawn attention among readers discussing the overlap between far-right politics, religious end-times belief and technology billionaires.
Why now: The essay's provocative framing of tech billionaires and religious nationalists as apocalyptic accelerationists resonates with current debates about far-right politics.
