Donald Trump has announced plans for a $6.6 billion defense shipyard in Baltimore, Maryland, to be operated by a firm owned by a top Republican donor. The project, reportedly involving defense tech company Anduril, is drawing scrutiny over the close ties between the administration, major donors and multibillion-dollar military contracts.
Why now: Critics and commentators are flagging potential conflicts of interest in awarding a huge defense contract to a firm tied to a major Republican donor.
