Driving licence issues dominate Japan news
Original: 運転
Two driving-related stories are drawing attention in Japan. Aichi Prefecture has begun allowing residents to change their driving licence numbers after a series of personal data leaks raised identity theft concerns. Separately, professional baseball player Kazuma Okamoto's teammate Kai Seido was fined 300,000 yen after being caught driving a luxury car worth 30 million yen without holding a licence, narrowly avoiding a licence suspension.
Why now: A high-profile athlete caught driving without a licence and growing data leak worries are keeping driving licences in the news.
