Timbiriche members reject ViX biopic
Original: timbiriche
Members of the Mexican pop group Timbiriche have publicly rejected a planned biographical series by streaming platform ViX, saying in a statement that they do not authorize the use of their identity. The group rose to fame in the 1980s and launched the careers of stars like Thalía and Paulina Rubio. The dispute has sparked debate in Mexico over consent and how streaming services portray real artists without their approval.
Why now: The band's public refusal of a biographical series has reignited interest in the group and the debate over unauthorized portrayals of artists.
