Streamer Asmongold has sparked a heated gaming debate by declaring that Gears of War is 'worse than woke', arguing the long-running shooter franchise has problems he considers deeper than current diversity-focused criticism. The comment drew well over a million likes and is fueling arguments among fans about the direction of the series, its storytelling, and how culture-war debates are being applied to video games.
Why now: A popular streamer's provocative claim about a beloved franchise reignited ongoing debates over 'woke' criticism in gaming.
