San Diego State shows rare 'Dune' book from library vault
Original: Prized 'Dune' book gets a day outside the University Library vault
San Diego State University has taken one of its most prized copies of Frank Herbert's 'Dune' out of its University Library vault for a rare public display. The book is normally kept in secure storage to protect its condition, and the one-day showing gives students and visitors an unusual chance to see it up close. Fans of the novel, boosted by recent screen adaptations, have welcomed the glimpse of the rare edition.
Why now: Interest in 'Dune' is high following its film adaptations, making any rare display of an original edition newsworthy.
