Couple swatted 55 times after Norm Macdonald joke post
Original: Couple was swatted 55 times in 2 years over a post about Norm Macdonald
A Canadian couple says it endured 55 swatting attacks over two years after posting a joke referencing comedian Norm Macdonald. Fake emergency calls sent police to their home repeatedly, leaving the pair exhausted and fearful. The case highlights how a single online post can turn into a prolonged harassment campaign, with police response times and the difficulty of tracing false callers again under scrutiny.
Why now: The story is resonating because of the absurd scale of retaliation for a harmless comedy post and concerns about swatting as a growing threat.
