The cost of lies: a Minecraft server story

Original: The cost of lies: A Mineserver story

Jeremy Reimer has published a long personal essay recounting his experience running a Minecraft server called Mineserver, and how lies and dishonesty within its community exacted a real cost on him and the project. Readers are discussing the story, drawing parallels to trust, moderation and community management in online games.

Why now: A detailed firsthand account of how deception damaged an online gaming community is resonating with people who run or participate in similar communities.
