Strands Decider 2B released as small open-source decision model

Original: Strands Decider 2B: a small, open-source, decision model

Strands has introduced Decider 2B, a compact open-source model designed to make decisions rather than generate long-form text. The release is drawing attention among developers as part of a broader shift toward small, specialised language models that handle discrete tasks like routing, tool selection and classification, with the model and details available through the Strands Agents project site.

Why now: Developer interest in small, task-specific open-source models that can power agentic systems cheaply and efficiently is growing.
