White House stumbles explaining Trump's 'doing the nuclear' claim
Original: 'They were doing the nuclear': White House fails to explain Trump's weird claim
Donald Trump made a cryptic remark that 'they were doing the nuclear', and reporters pressed the White House to explain what he meant. Press officials were unable to clarify the statement, prompting widespread coverage and mockery about the vagueness of a comment touching on nuclear policy.
Why now: A confusing statement about nuclear matters from a former president, combined with the administration's failure to explain it, is drawing intense attention.
