Trump orders firing squad for Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan
Original: nidal hasan
President Trump has ordered the execution of Nidal Hasan, the US Army psychiatrist who shot dead 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, in 2009. The military will carry out the death penalty by firing squad, a method not used by the US military in around 60 years. The order renews attention on one of the deadliest attacks on a US military installation.
Why now: Trump's fresh execution order reopens a high-profile 2009 mass shooting case and the rare use of a firing squad.
