Italy quietly giving Ukraine more military aid than admitted

Repubblica reports that Italy's military aid to Ukraine has been kept secret since 2022, when Mario Draghi's government imposed a strict veil of silence over defence support, a policy Giorgia Meloni's government has maintained. The newspaper argues Rome is in fact doing far more for Kyiv than official statements suggest, with public declarations focusing only on a limited picture of Italy's contribution.
Why now: An Italian newspaper's claim that Italy's secretive Ukraine aid is larger than officially stated is drawing attention amid ongoing debate over Western support for Kyiv.
