A senior official at the UN Food and Agriculture Organization has been dismissed after speaking out about hunger in Gaza. Critics are questioning how highlighting food insecurity in the territory could conflict with the agency's core mandate, with many calling the firing an attempt to silence staff over the humanitarian crisis.
Why now: The dismissal strikes people as directly at odds with a food agency's mission to combat hunger.
