A photograph from around 1920 shows the view from Neue Kräme towards the Römerberg in Frankfurt. On the right stands the Salzhaus, a Renaissance timber-framed house covered in carvings and painted scenes, with Haus Frauenstein and the three stepped gables of the Römer, the city hall, visible beyond. The image is drawing attention as a glimpse of Frankfurt's old town before its destruction in the Second World War.
Why now: People are drawn to rare images of Frankfurt's medieval old town, much of which was destroyed in 1944 and has since been partly reconstructed.
