EU Parliament lifts immunity of Italian MEP Matteo Ricci
Original: inchiesta
The European Parliament has lifted the immunity of Matteo Ricci, an Italian MEP with the Democratic Party, following his own request, Eunews reports. The move clears the way for Italian judicial authorities to open an investigation into him. Ricci is a prominent figure from the Marche region, and the case is drawing attention in Italy as details of the probe remain limited.
Why now: The lifting of immunity is a new step toward a possible investigation into a sitting Italian MEP.
