A fundraiser supporting Gaza has begun its October goal, starting from zero dollars, and the organiser is asking for the first donor to step forward. The appeal is circulating on the decentralized social network Mastodon under tags including #FediforGaza and references to what the organiser calls genocide in Gaza, urging users to contribute early and set the pace for the month's target.
Why now: The fundraiser just reset for October at zero dollars and is seeking early donors, prompting appeals to be shared across the network.
