Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez says upcoming elections will not alter Spain's policy toward China, telling the press the country needs "a space for dialogue, intelligent management of differences with China at a state level." His remarks signal Madrid intends to keep pursuing a pragmatic, engagement-focused relationship with Beijing regardless of the domestic political outcome.

Why now: Sanchez's public reassurance on China policy ahead of Spain's elections touches on a sensitive foreign policy debate.
