Carpetbagger claim shakes Nevada's red House race
Original: Carpetbagger allegation, misplaced valor make Nevada's safe red House seat competitive
A House seat in Nevada long considered safely Republican has turned competitive after attacks on the GOP candidate as a carpetbagger and disputes over claimed military valor, NPR reports. The allegations have given Democrats an opening in a district that was expected to stay firmly red, drawing attention to candidate credibility issues in the midterm campaign.
Why now: NPR's coverage of a normally safe Republican seat becoming competitive is drawing attention from political observers.
