GOP senators warn Trump has fumbled the immigration issue

Original: GOP senators warn that Trump has fumbled immigration issue

Republican senators are publicly warning that President Trump has mishandled the immigration issue, once a core GOP strength, arguing the administration has squandered its political advantage. The criticism, reported by The Hill, reflects growing anxiety within the party that the White House's messaging and handling of immigration policy are alienating voters and creating an opening for Democrats heading into upcoming elections.

Why now: Republicans are openly breaking ranks to criticise Trump on a signature issue, signalling internal party concern about its political consequences.
