Central Florida scouts earn coveted nuclear science merit badge
Original: Central Florida students ‘scout’ out coveted nuclear science merit badge
Students in Central Florida have completed requirements for the nuclear science merit badge, one of the more difficult badges available to scouts. The program was supported by the 16th Air Force, whose personnel helped introduce the students to nuclear science concepts and career pathways. The badge requires hands-on study of radiation, atomic structure and nuclear technology, making it a sought-after achievement for scouts interested in technical fields.
Why now: The Air Force highlighted the students' achievement, drawing attention to the rarely earned badge and youth STEM engagement.
