Carpetbagger claims put Nevada red House seat in play
Original: Carpetbagger allegation, misplaced valor make Nevada's safe red House seat competitive https://www.npr.org/2026/10/07/nx
A normally safe Republican House seat in Nevada has become unexpectedly competitive ahead of the midterm elections. The GOP candidate faces accusations of being a carpetbagger, having moved to the district recently, while questions have been raised about claims of military valor. Democrats are hoping the combination of doubts about the candidate's roots and credibility will allow them to flip the seat in November.
Why now: The midterms are near and a traditionally safe Republican seat is suddenly in contention.
