Criticism is mounting against Germany's centre-right Union parties over a decision to place an AfD candidate into an official post. Commenters accuse the Union of hypocrisy, arguing that if officials formally install an AfD candidate in office, they might as well openly switch to the party's faction. The debate reflects growing tension over cooperation with the far right at local level.
Why now: Because the Union's move to bring an AfD candidate into office is being seen as breaking the firewall against the far right.
Evidence
- Wenn die schon offiziell den AfD Kandidaten ins Amt bringen, dann könnten sie auch direkt so konsequent sein und die Fraktion wechseln. #Union #Heuchler #Faschisten RE: https://mastodon.social/users/avatter/statuses/117398944012144673 · don@procial.tchncs.de · 4
