A survey by the digital association Bitkom found that most Germans are unwilling to read books written entirely by artificial intelligence. Acceptance grows, however, when AI plays a supporting role: computer-assisted translations are widely considered acceptable. The results highlight a line many readers draw between AI as a tool behind the scenes and AI as the named author of creative work, a distinction likely to fuel ongoing debates about authorship, transparency and labelling of AI content in publishing.
