Why Turkish Universities Lack Classical Diplomacy Research Centers
Original: Too Strategic, Not Diplomatic: Why Turkish Universities Lack Research Centers on Classical Diplomacy
An analysis argues that Turkish universities have failed to establish dedicated research centers on classical diplomacy, attributing the gap to an overly strategic, security-focused approach in Turkish academia and foreign policy thinking. The piece suggests this leaves a void in the study of traditional diplomatic practice, negotiation and statecraft, and sparks debate about how Turkey trains its diplomats and scholars.
Why now: The critique challenges Turkish academia's priorities at a time of active debate over Turkey's foreign policy direction.
