ECB hints at U-turn over no-objection certificates as league doubts grow
Original: ECB hints at NOC u-turn even as APL doubts emerge
English cricket authorities have signalled they could soften their stance on issuing no-objection certificates for overseas franchise leagues, even as questions mount about the viability of the APL. Uncertainty over payments and organisation in the tournament has left players and boards weighing whether participation is worth the risk, and the ECB's apparent change of heart is being closely watched.
Why now: The ECB's possible reversal on player release comes at the same time as doubts about the APL, making the future of overseas participation unclear.
